Jacob Joseph Kent Sherfy, 22, was arrested in York County after allegedly putting a knife to a man’s back and forcing him to walk down the street, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

At 2:38 a.m. Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Lotz Drive in York County after a man reported that Sherfy held him at knifepoint.

When the victim went to his detached garage to smoke a cigarette, he found Sherfy in the building with a knife. Sherfy then allegedly held the knife to the victim’s back and demanded the victim make a phone call to another man who is an acquaintance of both the victim and Sherfy.

The victim attempted to call the acquaintance several times but the calls were not answered. Sherfy allegedly forced the victim to walk down the street to another residence to look for the acquaintance while still holding the knife at the victim’s back.

Neither Sherfy nor the victim were able to locate the acquaintance at the residence, and Sherfy left the scene without harming the victim, the sheriff’s office said.

Sherfy was arrested later on Sept. 18 at his home in the 100 block of Heatherwood Drive in York County with the knife still in his possession.

He was charged with abduction, assault and trespassing and taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
