Virginia Symphony Orchestra Presents Symphony Sunday at William & Mary

HAMPTON ROADS — The Virginia Symphony Orchestra (VSO) will present Symphony Sunday at William & Mary on Feb 25.

The concert will celebrate William & Mary’s new Concert Hall, with Music Director Eric Jacobsen conducting selections by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and more, including Mozart’s Violin Concerto in G Major featuring the VSO’s Associate Concertmaster, Yun Zhang.

  • Antonin Dvořák: Slavonic Dances, op.46, No. 8
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Concerto No.3 in G major for Violin & Orchestra
  • Ludwig Van Beethoven: Symphony No.7 in A major, op.92, IV. Allegro con brio
  • Leroy Anderson: Irish Suite, The Irish Washerwoman & The Lase Rose of Summer
  • Duke Ellington/Morton Gould: Sophisticated Lady
  • Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No.6 in B minor, II. Allegro con grazia & III. Allegro molto vivace

Symphony Sunday at William & Mary will take place at 3 p.m. at William & Mary’s new Music Building Concert Hall located at 551 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg. Seating for the concert is general admission, and capacity is limited, so VSO urges the public to purchase tickets early. Tickets are $20, and $10 for students/children.

Performances are supported in part by the Arts Alliance, the Newport News Arts Commission, the Williamsburg Area Arts Commission, the City of Norfolk, the Virginia Beach Arts and Humanities Commission, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
