YORKTOWN — A teacher at Mt. Vernon Elementary School in Yorktown was arrested Friday for misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO), on Friday, Nov. 17, it was notified of an alleged assault of a 6-year-old special needs student that occurred on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Mt. Vernon Elementary School.
The Sheriff’s Office’s Investigations Division began an immediate investigation of the complaint, YPSO said.
Elizabeth Anne Sparr, 47, of Newport News, a teacher at Mt. Vernon Elementary School, was arrested and charged with one count of Assault and Battery, YPSO said.
