Graduations and Honors: More Local Students Celebrated by Colleges, Universities

HISTORIC TRIANGLE — From graduations to dean’s lists and other honors, local students attending colleges and universities nationwide continue to make the grade.

Hollins University Announces Dean’s List for Spring 2023

Hollins University congratulated students who earned Dean’s List honors during the spring 2023 semester. To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale. Congratulations to these distinguished scholars on earning this academic achievement.

Hollins is an independent liberal arts university in Roanoke offering undergraduate liberal arts education for women and selected graduate programs for women and men.

Enrique Reed, of Williamsburg, Graduated from The University of Tampa

Enrique Reed, of Williamsburg, graduated from The University of Tampa on Saturday, May 6. Reed graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management BS.

The commencement ceremony included 1,525 undergraduate and graduate candidates. The ceremony included remarks by President Ronald Vaughn, Jeff Drushal from the class of 1989, the Honorable Jane Castor from the class of 1981 and the student challenge speaker.

UT Student, Megan Sapp, of Seaford, Earned Dean’s List Honors

Megan Sapp, of Seaford, earned dean’s list honors at The University of Tampa for the Spring 2023 semester. Sapp is a Sophomore majoring in History BA. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean’s list.

The University of Tampa is a private, comprehensive university located on 110 acres on the riverfront in downtown Tampa.

Georgia Tech Spring 2023 Graduates Announced

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to more than 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 264th Commencement exercises May 5-6 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Students Earn Faculty Honors at Georgia Tech for the Spring 2023 Semester

The following students earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for Spring 2023 at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

  • Benjamin Rochford of Williamsburg

Local Emerson College Students Earn Dean’s List Honors for Spring 2023 Semester

The following students were named to Emerson College’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester. The requirement to make Dean’s List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

  • Jackson Query of Williamsburg. Query is majoring in Theatre and Performance and is a member of the Class of 2025.
  • Isabelle McMahan of Williamsburg. McMahan is majoring in Creative Writing BFA and is a member of the Class of 2026.

Emerson College is based in Boston, opposite the historic Boston Common and in the heart of the city’s Theatre District.

DMACC Holds Spring Semester Graduation

Nearly 1,800 students graduated from the spring semester from Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Ankeny, Boone, Carroll, Newton, Urban and West Campuses, including Nichelle Smith of Yorktown in Homeland Security.

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) offers 220 programs, certificates and transfer degrees, and annually serves nearly 60,000 students across the College’s six campuses and seven learning centers.
