State Police Receive New Information in Fenton Mill Road Hit-and-Run

JAMES CITY COUNTY — Virginia State Police have received new forensic information in its investigation of a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Fenton Mill Road April 15 in James City County.

The initial investigation revealed witnesses had observed 64-year-old Andrew Davis, of the 4800 block of Fenton Mill Road, Williamsburg, walking with his dog in the eastbound lane when a vehicle struck him from behind. The vehicle that struck Davis did not stop and continued eastbound on Fenton Mill Road.

State police at the time had reached out to the community seeking any information on the vehicle or the suspect, but no leads or information was received that could lead investigators to the suspect.
State police also provided the Department of Forensic Science with a chemical composition, collected at the crime scene for vehicle make and color matching analysis. The result of the chemical composition indicate that the color of the vehicle is a black to a dark gray colored paint which was used by Honda from 1995 to 2015, containing metallic hues, police said.

Virginia State Police are still seeking the community’s assistance regarding any witnesses or information on anyone owning a late model Honda, with black or dark gray metallic paint, that had significant front end damage or or after April 15.

Anyone with information about the hit and run or information on the suspected vehicle is encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police at  757-424-6800 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
