HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Here is how the July Fourth federal holiday impacts local offices and services.
James City County
James City County offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the July 4 holiday:
County Offices:
Closed July 4.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed July 4.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Open July 4.
Tewning Road, Jolly Pond Road and Toano Convenience Centers:
Closed July 4.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed July 4.
Curbside Recycling:
One day delay. Tuesday’s recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, etc.
Libraries:
Closed July 4.
Courts:
Closed July 3-4.
Williamsburg
City of Williamsburg offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. This includes all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Garbage will be collected on its regular schedule Monday and Tuesday; recycling is not
scheduled for collection. For water emergencies after hours, on weekends, and on holidays,
call 757-220-2331. More information can be found at williamsburgva.gov/publicworks.
Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed are reminded to use the convenient 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for city transactions. Payments can also be made online. The city notes dropbox payments made on Tuesday, July 4, will not be posted until Wednesday, July 5.
York County
The following York County government offices and courts will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday:
- County government offices
- Courts
- York-Poquoson Social Services
- Virginia Cooperative Extension
- York County Libraries
- Waste Management Center Offices, Drop Off Area & Transfer Station
- VPPSA Compost Facility
Garbage collections are not affected by the holiday; however, recycling will not be picked up Tuesday, July 4, and will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week with routes completed by Saturday. Citizens needing assistance are reminded to submit requests via the Customer Service Request Portal — yorkcounty.gov/requests.
