Williamsburg Christian Academy Celebrates the Exceptional Achievements of its 2024 Graduates

Williamsburg Christian Academy (WCA) proudly announces the outstanding accomplishments of its 2024 graduates, who have set a new standard of excellence through their participation in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. This year’s graduating class has excelled academically and demonstrated significant college readiness, saving their families thousands of dollars in future tuition costs.

A Remarkable Year for WCA Graduates

The 2024 graduating class at WCA earned 81 college credit hours through the rigorous IB Diploma Programme. This achievement translates into more than $ 115,000 in savings on college tuition for their families, a testament to the dedication of students and faculty. In addition to financial savings, these credits position WCA graduates for early college graduation, giving them a head start in their academic and professional careers.

Johnny Graham, WCA’s Head of School, is delighted with their results, noting that the IB Diploma Programme is among the most challenging and rewarding educational paths. WCA graduates have risen to the challenge and exceeded expectations, reflecting the strength of the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

Understanding the IB Diploma Programme

For those unfamiliar with the International Baccalaureate, the IB Diploma Programme is a globally recognized educational curriculum designed to provide students with a comprehensive, challenging, and balanced education. The program, aimed at students aged 16 to 19, emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and exposure to various perspectives.

Students earn the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma by completing a rigorous two-year program that challenges them academically and personally. To qualify, they must take courses in six subject areas, including languages, social sciences, mathematics, and the arts, with assessments that combine internal evaluations and external exams. Additionally, students complete three core components: the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, the Extended Essay (EE), and the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) project, which promotes critical thinking, independent research, and personal growth. Successful candidates meet these requirements and achieve a minimum score across their assessments, demonstrating a well-rounded education.

The IB Diploma Programme at WCA is about more than just academic success. It’s about developing well-rounded individuals prepared to face the world’s challenges with confidence and compassion. WCA graduates have earned college credits and grown as thinkers, leaders, and global citizens, a testament to the program’s holistic approach.

A Lasting Impact on the WCA Community

The success of this year’s graduates reflects the strength of WCA’s commitment to providing a holistic, Christ-centered education that prepares students for life beyond high school. Including the IB Diploma Programme in WCA’s curriculum has enriched the academic environment, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity.

As WCA looks to the future, the school remains dedicated to offering an education that inspires students to become Christ-centered leaders who serve our global community. The achievements of the 2024 graduates are a shining example of what is possible when students are given the tools and support they need to succeed.

WCA invites families in the Williamsburg and Hampton Roads communities to learn more about the IB Diploma Programme and the opportunities it provides for students. By enrolling in this prestigious program, students can earn college credits while still in high school, save on tuition, and prepare for early college graduation.
