The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce kicked off March with the Women’s Business Council’s Power of Women keynote! We were honored to have the dynamic Connie Matthews Harshaw, President of the Let Freedom Ring Foundation as our keynote speaker for the event. Connie spoke to the sold-out crowd about her life, lessons she learned from it, and imparted wisdom that she gained by being an international trailblazer.
The GWCC’s education program Pathways2Careers traveled to the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown in March. Students were given a guided tour of the base to learn about the different career paths the Coast Guard offers. They were also able to engage in activities, like participating in a virtual training simulation.

Ribbon Cuttings & Celebrations
We have several ribbon cuttings coming up in our community, which the general public is usually invited to attend.
Ribbon cuttings are unique networking events. Unlike other events, you’re more likely to meet the owners, decision makers, and other key people you usually wouldn’t have access to! Check out the chamber calendar for upcoming events to attend.
Thank you for helping us celebrate these organizations (click for event photos on Facebook):
- The Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon at the Grand Re-Opening of BikeWalk Williamsburg! BikeWalk Williamsburg is a non-profit that features the Bicycle Co-Op of Williamsburg, a community outreach program that helps people seeking affordable alternative transportation for work, school, appointments, recreation and socializing, exercise, and fulfilling everyday needs in their lives.
Co-Op volunteers refurbish donated bikes to be reliable and safe transportation. The area bicycle cooperative grew from BikeWalk Williamsburg’s mission to create a community environment encouraging “everyone to bike or walk everywhere.”
- Last week the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce got to cut the ribbon at the Remix Market Williamsburg ! Remix Market is a furniture and home décor resale store with a mission to keep reusable items out of landfills. The market works hand-in-hand with The Junkluggers to rescue quality pieces and resell them at a low price.
“The most exciting thing about being a part of this business community is being able to serve and give back to the community where I grew up, “said General Manager Zach Kirkpatrick, “I’ve always loved it here and I thoroughly enjoy being able to support those in our community through the efforts of Junkluggers and Remix Market.”
