Merchants Square is gaining a new spot for wine lovers.
Williamsburg Winery is set to open a 1,300-square foot tasting room and wine bar in early October, located between The Precious Gem and R. Bryant, Ltd., according to a release.
The tasting room will have outdoor seating on Duke of Gloucester Street and a small-plates menu featuring local cheese and charcuterie. It will also serve tasting flights and wine by the glass and bottle.
The new venue comes about a year after the winery opened a pop-up tasting room on South Henry Street for the holidays.
“This is an exciting time in the history and evolution of The Williamsburg Winery,” Patrick Duffeler II, president and CEO, said in the release. “By establishing a more permanent location in Merchant’s Square, we hope to bring another fun experience to an already exciting part of town.”
A winery spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
The tasting room and wine bar will be open year-round, seven days a week, except major holidays, the release said.
