Historic Triangle residents will soon have to find a new place to buy perfume at a discount price.
The Perfumania outlet in the Williamsburg Premium Outlets — located between Le Creuset and Ben & Jerry’s — will close this fall, according to a press release from Perfumania Holdings, Inc.
Perfumania claims to be the nation’s largest fragrance retailer on the company’s website.
The Williamsburg Perfumania will close Sept. 29, according to Jennifer Mercer, Senior Vice President with Epiq Strategic Communications and media contact for Perfumania.
As Perfumania prepares to close, the Williamsburg Premium Outlets store is advertising clearance sales with deals between 30 and 50 percent off.

According to the press release, Perfumania Holdings, Inc. will close 65 of its stores nationwide as it enacts a “Plan of Reorganization.” The company will reduce its retail footprint as it files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in an effort to adapt to consumer online shopping habits and reduce overhead.
“Our retail customers can continue to purchase the brands they love at our stores and online, and our wholesale and retail customers will not see any interruption in the flow of merchandise,” Michael Katz, Perfumania President and Chief Executive Officer said in the press release.
The publicly-traded company plans to emerge from the bankruptcy filings as a privately-held company, according to the release.
Perfumania’s release said the company is “accelerating the closure of under-performing stores” and stores located in malls with declining traffic.
Mercer said the Williamsburg Premium Outlets is home to the only Perfumania closing in Virginia.
She added that three employees will be laid off with the store’s closing. And a total of 195 of the company’s roughly 1,500 will be affected by the bankruptcy filings.
Perfumania currently operates 230 stores across the country and has been in business for 30 years, according to the release.
