NEWPORT NEWS — Lionsbridge FC, the peninsula’s only professional soccer team, has announced that internship applications are now being accepted for the 2026 summer soccer season.

Lionsbridge interns can work in community engagement, digital content and media, event operations, marketing and merchandising, soccer operations, stadium entertainment, and ticketing and fan services.

“Our internships are hands-on, real roles with meaningful responsibilities on game days and behind-the-scenes. Our interns learn what it actually takes to run a club. We’re looking for reliable, hard-working students who are considering a career in sports,” Mike Vest, Lionsbridge co-owner, said.

During a Lionsbridge internship, interns will be expected to work up to two game days per week at TowneBank Stadium and non-game days, which can be completed remotely or on-site. The Lionsbridge season runs from May to July.

While Lionsbridge FC internships are unpaid, students are highly encouraged to apply and academic credit for the internship can be arranged by Lionsbridge and students’ colleges and universities.

Lionsbridge intern alumni have gone on to successful careers in all other major sports.

“In the last eight years, 20 of our past interns have gone on to roles in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, USL, minor league baseball, hockey and NCAA Division I athletic departments like Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, among others. Seeing where they end up is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do,” Vest added.

Applications are open online and interviews are ongoing with decisions to be made in February.
