No. 16/20 Tribe Football to Host No. 10/7 Towson on Senior Day

The No. 16/20 William and Mary football team will look for its fourth consecutive victory against a top-20 opponent when it hosts No. 10/7 Towson for Senior Day on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at TribeAthletics.com or by calling the ticket office at 757-221-3340. The contest will be Military Appreciation Day, as discounted tickets are available for fans with a Military ID ($8 sideline, $5 end zone).

Saturday’s game will mark the 10th meeting between W&M and Towson, as the Tribe won the initial seven meetings before losing the last two matchups. W&M owns a 4-1 record against the Tigers in Williamsburg, while it is 3-1 versus TU in Towson.

W&M boasts one of the nation’s top defensive units this season and currently leads the country in scoring defense (12.2), while it ranks sixth in total defense (294.2), eighth in rushing defense (102.0), 10th in third down conversion defense (30.8) and 11th in passing efficiency defense (107.2). The Tribe has been especially effective during the past three games, all of which have come against nationally ranked teams that averaged more than 32 points per game, and has allowed just one offensive touchdown.

Although Towson enters Saturday’s game with a top-10 national ranking and owns an 8-2 record overall and a 4-2 mark in conference play, it has lost two of its last four games. TU currently leads the Colonial Athletic Association in scoring offense (40.3), total offense (489.5) and rushing offense (246.3). Additionally, Towson features the nation’s leading rusher in Terrance West, who is averaging 161.8 yards per game and has scored 26 touchdowns.
