Robert M. Geron Sr., 84, of West Point passed away March 30, 2026.
Bobby was a graduate of the West Point School system. After high school, he served in the US Army communications core. He retired after 35 years of service to Chesapeake/St. Laurent Forest Products as forester and safety director, in 1998.
Bobby was an active member of the community. He was a member of the West Point Jaycees, the West Point Gun Club with his mother, brothers and sister. He worked with Cub Scouts for many years. He was an instructor of first aid and CPR for the West Point Red Cross. Bubba’s passion was with the West Point Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. For many years he was part of Squad 5 and the Back Alley Gang. He was a man that loved and served his community.
Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and stained glass. But his biggest enjoyment was his wife, Phyllis, who passed away in January of this year. They were always together. One of the last things he said was that Phyllis was at the end of his bed and said, “Come on Bob”.
He was proceeded in death by wife of 59 years, Phyllis, parents Adam and Annie Geron, brothers Geroge and Jimmy Geron, and sister Barbara Musante.
Bobby is survived by his son Michael (Peg), by his daughter, Amy Smith (Bruce); his brother Adam (Margaret). He is also survived by the many grandchildren he adored; Sophia Geron (Ben), McGinley Kooy (Logan), Emma Geron, Brooke Englert (Ty), Charlotte Geron (Couy) and Henry Geron; Chris Smith, Leann Colossio (Anthony), Steven Smith (Skylar), along with two great-grandchildren, Aden Kooy, and Percy Geron with a 3rd on the way in July.
