George W. Jones Jr., 72, of Charles City

George W. Jones Jr. peacefully departed this life at home on April 7, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Jones Sr., and his brother, Walter Jones.

George Jr. graduated from Charles City High School and pursued an education in diesel mechanics at Cummins Diesel, where he later taught classes. He worked 20 years at KST Trucking, where he was known as one of the best diesel mechanics in Charles City County.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Anthony Jones of Williamsburg; his daughter, Sherita Jones of Williamsburg; his grandson, Emmanuel Jones; his mother, Nannie Jones; two sisters, Sylvia Jones Thompson of Charles City and Bertha Quarles of Tampa, Florida; three brothers, Alfonzo (Pamela) of Killeen, Texas, Keith (Gagina) of Bealeton, Virginia and Wayne of Charles City; one sister-in-law, Linda Jones (Walter deceased); three aunts, Almeade Jones (James deceased), Mae West Jones (Joe deceased), and Jeanette Adkins (Raymond), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

George Jr. was a faithful member of Little Elam Baptist Church. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family dearly. He took pride in making sure their cars were always in good running condition and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

An avid fisherman and hunter, George Jr. enjoyed cooking what he caught or hunted. He was especially known for his seafood casserole, steamed blue crabs, and deer sausage. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

George Jr. was a humble man who never complained, even in times of pain.

A funeral service will be held 12Noon Monday, April 13, 2026, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment to follow in the Little Elam Baptist Church cemetery.
