Reverend Daniel Alexander Wallace, Sr, 78, of Charles City, VA, transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, April 6, 2026. He was born November 4, 1947, in Charles City County, VA, to the late Summerfield Wallace & Rosa Etta Bradby Wallace.
Rev. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Charles City County, VA. He was educated in the Charles City County School System. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined Little Elam Baptist Church. He stayed strong in his faith walk and raised up his children knowing who God is. Rev. Wallace became a licensed and ordained minister at Little Elam Baptist Church where he served for more than 40 years as an Associate Minister, before becoming the Assistant to the Pastor. Daniel served as a faithful member and leader of the United Faith Group of Charles City for numerous years, where he made a very large impact on the community at large. He was also a Chaplain for the Charles City County Sheriff Department.
Daniel enjoyed singing with his family group, the Charles City Gospel Singers, for nearly 45 years. He established his own singing group, The Sensational Groupinaires of Charles City. He also sang with other church choirs, namely the Male Chorus and the Bradby Memorial Gospel Chorus. At Little Elam Baptist Church, every first Sunday in November was named, “Rev. Daniel Wallace Day.”
Daniel worked for Westvaco Box Company for a short period of time then moved to the Henrico County School System, where he was a Small Engine Mechanic for more than 35 years, until his retirement. Daniel continued his craft and had a remarkable talent for creating, inventing, and designing, often bringing his ideas to life with his own hands. Daniel was a song writer, preaching God’s word though his music. Daniel was full of wisdom, thoughtfulness, kindness and was the epitome of, “Blessing After Blessing.”
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Summerfield and Rosa Etta Bradby Wallace; his late wife, Bessie Jones Wallace; his stepmother, Florene Wallace; siblings, Emma Adkins, Willie Summerfield, Sr., Etta Jones, Arnette Brown, Leon Wallace, Joyce Wallace Crawley, Delois Allen, Dallis Wallace, Sr., Rosa Tabb, Evan Wallace, Sr., Bobby Wallace, and Maurice Wallace; and brother-in-law, Glenn Woodley.
Daniel Leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Phyllis M. Jefferson Wallace; four sons, Daniel Wallace, Jr. (Sheri), Corey Wallace (Mia), Shyrone Wallace (Stacey), all of Charles City, and Tony Wallace of Richmond; four grandchildren, Tiara Jones of Charles City, Brianna Henley (KeQuan) of Richmond, Daneshia Wallace of Williamsburg, and Aysia Wallace of Charles City; three great-grandchildren, Savannah Smith, Shade’ and Ira Jordan, all of Charles City; a God-daughter, Sherri Donson (Andrew) of Charles City; siblings, Clem Miles (Floyd), Anna Adkins (Dudley), Dorothy Armstead (Michael), Brenda Copling (Wesley), and Wilhemenia Young (Tyrone); mother-in-law, Grace Woodley; brothers-in-law, Clyde Allen Warren and David (Annie), William, Phillip, Curtis, and Curt Woodley; sisters-in-law, Elinor Wallace, Barbara Jefferson (James), Martha Harris, and Brenda Brown. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including a devoted niece, Rosetta Barnes, and lifelong best friend, Waverly Barnes, and Joseph (Little Joe) Jones, also a lifelong friend.
A funeral service will be held 2PM Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Ln, Charles City, VA 23030. A viewing will be held 2 hours prior to services, from 12 Noon – 2PM. Interment to follow in the Little Elam Baptist Church cemetery.
