Anthony Tyrone Collins, 59, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on March 4, 2026. Born in Hollywood, Florida, Anthony lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and dedication to his family.
Anthony proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. After his military service, he worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected his hardworking nature and independence.
Anthony was known for his strong personality, quick wit, and sense of humor. Even during his final hospital visit, he continued telling jokes and making those around him smile. He was stubborn in the best way and carried a spirit that could brighten a room.
Anthony had a deep love for sports. He enjoyed watching football and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Falcons, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Georgia Bulldogs. During his high school years, he also loved playing in the marching band, an experience that brought him great joy.
Anthony will be remembered for his humor, strength, and the love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Anthony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Collins, and his mother, Catherine Murray.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Breanna Collins and Davona Johnson (Andrew); granddaughter Jakhyia Hall; father Hudson Murray; brother Kedrix Murray; sisters, Tonya Hall and Deceithia McCrary; and a host of extended family and loved ones who will deeply miss him.
