With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shelia D. Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on February 7, 2026, in Newport News, VA, at the age of 72. Born on January 6, 1954, in Miami, FL, Shelia’s journey through life was marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit.

Shelia’s career spanned roles at Gateway Computers and as a dedicated Cafeteria Assistant with Newport News Public Schools. However, her true legacy lies beyond her professional achievements. Known for her vibrant personality and infectious laughter, Shelia was a beacon of joy and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She found great joy in bowling, attending her aquatics class, and her social nature meant she was always surrounded by friends, who she cherished deeply. Her kind and caring heart was evident in her endless willingness to help those in need. As a devoted Girl Scout Leader for several years, she guided young minds and inspired them with her compassion and generosity.

Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a proud member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newport News, where she nurtured her spiritual connection and shared her love for her Lord and Savior.

Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Willie J. Daniels and Willie Pearl Harris. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her beloved daughter Sherae Mullins, her cherished granddaughter Autumn Gentle, and her brothers Ricky Daniels (Cynthia), Jayson Daniels, Sr. (Betty Ann), and Jeffery Daniels. She also leaves a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends.

While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched countless lives with her kindness and love. Her legacy of faith, family, and friendship will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.

Services to honor Shelia’s life will be announced at a later date.

May Shelia rest in eternal peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.
