Elizabeth Lyn Sargent (Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory)

Elizabeth Lyn Sargent, 48, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026. Born in 1977, Elizabeth was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was a blessing to all who knew her.

Elizabeth lived her entire life with her devoted parents, Walter and Daunice Sargent, who lovingly cared for her special needs. A perpetual child at heart, Elizabeth possessed a pure and joyful spirit that was immediately felt by everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for connection, never hesitating to tell someone they were her best friend, and she always meant it.

She is survived by her parents, Walter and Daunice Sargent; her older brother, Jonathan Sargent and his wife, Josie; her younger brother, Nathan Sargent; her aunts, Valerie Jensen and her husband, Ronald, and Annette Tompson; her uncles, Russell Sargent, and Rene Pinault; her nephews, Ethan and Samuel Sargent; her niece and best friend, Ava Sargent; and cousins, Jason Sargent, Erica Sargent, Melissa Jensen, Julie LaPrise, James Tompson and William Tompson all of whom adored her deeply.

Elizabeth spent her days at VersAbility, where she enjoyed the companionship of her many friends and coworkers. She found great happiness in simple pleasures, talking to her many toys, watching her favorite classic television shows like Hee Haw and The Andy Griffith Show, enjoying cartoons, and watching The Gummi Bears at her brother’s house, a favorite tradition that always brought her joy.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Elizabeth was an active and cherished member of the SPRED (Special Religious Development) program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she participated in an inclusive faith community that prepared persons with intellectual disabilities to fully belong in the liturgical life of the parish. Through SPRED, Elizabeth formed meaningful friendships and experienced the love, belonging, and joy of shared faith.

Elizabeth’s life was a testament to unconditional love, innocence, and joy. She reminded all who knew her of the beauty found in kindness, sincerity, and seeing every person as a friend. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The ARC of the Virginia Peninsula or the SPRED program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
