Kenneth James Odell, Jr. (Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory)

Kenneth James Odell, Jr., aka “Big Ken”, “Pappy” and “Uncle Kenny”, 65, of Newport News, VA, passed away on January 8, 2026, after a short battle with bone cancer.

Ken was born in Ware, MA, our Valentine’s Baby, to the late Irene (Chelbus) Odell and Ken Odell, Sr.. He was predeceased by his parents; his grandparents; his brother, Brian Odell and his cousins, Bill Blodgett of Ware, MA and Jim Blodgett of Indiana.

He is survived by his wife of 39 ½ years, Linda Odell; His stepmom, Eleanor Odell of Worcester, MA; his brother, Kevin (wife, Nicole) Odell of Palmer, MA; his nephew, Alexander Odell of Palmer, MA; Kenneth Odell of Palmer, MA; his niece, Cassidy Odell of Palmer, MA; his nephews, Nathanial Odell of Fort Riley, KS and Connor Odell of Worcester, MA; his niece, Brittany Odell and his great-nieces, Reya, Naomi and Aurora of Ware, MA. Ken was also a proud stepfather of two sons (and their wives); six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was proud to have served his Country for six years as a Cook in the U.S. Navy. Ken was very much a softy when the National Anthem played on the radio or television.

He worked as a ceiling installer. His passion was building restaurant tables, serving stations for Captain George’s and Fisherman’s Wharf in Virginia and the Carolinas. Ken did beautiful work on cabinets, bookcases and countertops, which he was both proud and honored to do for his customers and friends. He spent many years bowling candlepins in Massachusetts and was on the Virginia Men’s Pro Tour in Duckpins. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his buddies and his family.

Rest now, Ken, your work on Earth is done. Love you and thinking of you always and the wonderful foods you made. “Mama was right; I was spoiled by you.”

Ken will be laid to rest at Wales Cemetery #4 (also known as South Laurel Hill Cemetery) in Wales, Hampden County, MA, next to his father, later in the Spring.
