Bernice P. Kirkpatrick, born on October 18, 1934, in Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 4, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know her.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Bernice’s greatest joy came from her family. She cherished her role as a “meemaw” and nurtured her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and kindness. Her spirit lives on in her children—Pamela Werth, Keith Kirkpatrick (Betty), Kimberly Brown, and LeMay Woodland—who carry forward her legacy of warmth and compassion. Her grandchildren, Sheri Wright, Nicole Kirkpatrick, Phillip David Woodland, Jr., and William Vincent Woodland, along with great-grandchildren Brantley and Tanner Helms, were the delight of her life.

Bernice’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. As a dedicated member of Denbigh Christian Church, she found solace and strength in her relationship with the Lord. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges and inspired those around her to embrace love and grace.

In addition to her immediate family, Bernice is survived by her beloved sisters Brenda Hollifield, Betty Ann Painter, and Bonnie Setzer, who shared countless memories and moments of joy throughout their lives together.

Bernice P. Kirkpatrick’s life was a living example of love in action and faith unwavering. Her gentle spirit and heartfelt smile will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those she leaves behind. Her legacy of love and faith continues to inspire and uplift her family and friends, reminding them of the power of a life well-lived.
