Adrienne Robin Joynes, born on June 16, 1960, in Québec, Canada, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia, at the age of 64. Adrienne was a dedicated professional, a passionate adventurer, and a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Adrienne spent much of her career contributing to the Information Technology department at William and Mary College. Her professional journey was complemented by her academic achievements; she earned an Associate of Applied Science from Tidewater Community College and a Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University.
Beyond her professional life, Adrienne was an individual of varied interests and accomplishments. She had a musical ear and loved to play the bagpipes, dulcimer, and violin. She was also a National Karate Champion, demonstrating her discipline and commitment to excellence. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for horseback riding and her active participation in volunteer vacations with the American Hiking Society. As an Associate Adventure Advisor, she inspired many with her adventurous spirit and love for nature. She had a love and respect for all living creatures, and rescued many Golden Retrievers through SEVA GRREAT. Never one to sit still, she could also be found creating her own costumes for reenactments of 18th century colonial America. At home, she loved to relax by sewing, knitting, and crocheting as well.
Adrienne was a cherished member of Wellspring United Methodist Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. Her faith and kindness touched the lives of those around her, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Adrienne is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sydney Meyer. She is survived by her devoted husband, Albert Joynes Jr.; her loving children, daughter Aimee McLain and son Arthur Joynes; her sisters, Michelle Pendleton and Marsha Dymarczyk; and her cherished granddaughter, Charlotte McLain. Her family and friends will forever hold her memory dear.
Adrienne’s ashes will be laid to rest at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, where she will find eternal peace. Her legacy of love, adventure, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
