Nancy Smith Harris, 80, of James City County, passed away on May 7, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee E. and Sarah T. Smith, and her brother Thomas L. Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Byrd T. Harris, III; her daughters, Susan L. Rabinowitz (Paul) and Amy S. Hoyt (Rick); her grandchild Sadie Hoyt; her sister Anne Pulliam (Billy), Sister-in-Law Beverley Smith and niece Sharon Seward (Richard); as well as many cherished friends and extended family members.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Donna Amole, longtime family friend, the caregivers at Reflection of Christ Home Health Care, and the Heartland Hospice team, whose presence during Nancy’s final days offered peace, comfort and dignity.
Nancy’s kindness, love and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
There will be no immediate service, but accompanied by warm sunshine, good food and cold drinks, the family will hold a celebration of Nancy’s life on May 31st at the Area 1 recreation lot in the Chickahominy Haven neighborhood in James City County, VA.
