On the morning of January 24, 2024, Virginia Diane Cascante passed away, at the age of 59, in her home after a long battle against lung cancer. She was surrounded by those she held closest in her final days.
Diane, as she liked to be called, was born and raised in Kentucky. After graduating with honors from her local high school she followed in her brother’s footsteps, joining the United States Marine Corp. After proudly serving for nine years, she was honorably discharged, settling in Newport News, Virginia where she raised her two daughters and began her civilian career. She excelled as she spent many years advancing in the field of Quality Assurance. Diane spent her final professional years in the field which most held her heart, as a medical assistant working in the specialty of oncology. After retiring professionally, Diane turned her focus to providing all she could to her grandchildren, watching them several times a week and never missing a chance to make a memory. From her days in school, throughout her years in the service and beyond, one thing that always remained was her drive for education and excellence no matter the circumstance. Unsurprisingly, one of her greatest hobbies was reading. In fact, she had been known to read as many as several hundred books in one year.
Diane was fortunate enough in her years to find the kind of love from someone who accepted and loved her with such joy that she truly found happiness. It is in those she leaves behind, her husband Jaime Rudy Cascante, her beloved daughters Jennifer Beebe and Candice Burke, her brother Scott Williamson, and her greatest joys: her grandchildren Colton and Alexa Beebe, that her legacy will carry on. In her memory, may we strive to offer such forgiving and unconditional love as she showed us.
She will be honored by her family in a private ceremony.
