Ella Louise Farmer Shorter, 92, of Vinton

Ella Louise Farmer Shorter, 92, previously of Vinton, Virginia, died on January 23, 2024.

She was born in Gladys, Virginia, daughter of the late Manly and Minnie Farmer. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Sterlin Boyd Shorter. She was also preceded in death by her 5 brothers, 3 sisters-in-law, one sister, and two brothers-in-law, whom she deeply loved.

Louise was the administrative secretary at William Byrd High School for 26 years where she considered the students and staff her family. She was a member of Vinton Baptist Church for over 50 years where she treasured her “sisters” in her Sunday School class.

Louise is survived by her three children, Annette Walls (Bruce), Gwen Freeman (Ben), and Andrew Shorter (Kathy); six grandchildren, Lauren Tunstall, Brynn Weimorts (Tyler), Justin Snider (Katy), Dalton Freeman (Sarah), Elizabeth Peeples (Jay), and Patricia Wooden (Derek); and twelve great grandchildren.

A family funeral service will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, Virginia on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 2 p.m.
