Our beloved Ilse Studenroth was reunited with her husband, Walter Studenroth, early on the morning of February 17th. She was surrounded by her loving daughters, Ilse Deel and Lynn Turner. We are comforted in the thought that she is now with our Lord and Savior.
Retired from Modern Machine & Tool Co., she was also a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Hampton before moving to Williamsburg.
Mama, Omi, or Oma as she is affectionately known by her daughters and grandchildren, was born in Gevelsberg, Germany where she met the love of her life, and eventual husband, Walter. They were married after World War II, and soon after immigrated to the United States. Upon arriving in America, they immediately threw themselves into building the American Dream. She was one of the hardest working women you could ever meet who prided herself not only on being a career woman but also a dedicated mother and wife. This followed her in later years as she became a grandmother of three and eventually a great-grandmother of two.
During their retirement years, Walter and Ilse enjoyed many afternoons socializing with friends. Even after Walter passed, Ilse continued to maintain an active social life. No matter her age she never failed to have her house spotless to a T and always had a variety of sweets and coffee at her disposal for her friends and family. She remained independent well into her 90’s and enjoyed being active in her cherished Brookdale community. Some of her favorite pastimes in the last few years included visiting with her family members, baking, maintaining a small garden, crocheting/knitting blankets for veterans and helping in the Brookdale Library alongside her beloved fellow German, Edith, and many friends.
Her passing has left a huge hole in all of our lives and we hope as a family that we will continue to make her proud in everything that we do.
Ilse is survived by her daughters, Ilse Deel (Jeffrey) and Lynn Turner (Richard); grandchildren, Lindsay Deel (Kristen Tull), Christina Long (Braden) and Haley Turner; and great-grandchildren, Brooks and Elliott Long.
There will be a visitation at the family home in Williamsburg on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, including a short memorial presentation at 4:30pm.
Wir lieben dich für immer und ewig. (We love you forever and always.)
Deine liebe Familie. (Your loving family).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ilse’s name to a charity of your choosing.
