A plumbing wholesaler to set up shop at City Center

NEWPORT NEWS — Ferguson is coming to City Center here.

The plumbing wholesaler and distributor of HVAC equipment, broke ground on a an $82 million facility on June 20.

The eight-story, 260,000-square-foot campus will house 1,400 Ferguson employees working in marketing and communications, sales, eBusiness, human resources, information technology, security and other corporate functions, according to a news release from the city.

In total the new facility will bring in 434 jobs.

Ferguson was named after Charles Ferguson, son of former Newport News Shipbuilding president Homer L. Ferguson, who assisted with the company’s founding in 1953.
