NEWPORT NEWS — Registration is now underway for all races during the Newport News Marathon.

The marathon will be on March 3, 2019, and takes place along a 26-mile stretch of the city.

As part of the marathon, there is also a half marathon option, marathon relay, a nautical mile and a fun run.

Prices range from $15-$115, depending on which race participants choose. To see a full list of races, prices and to register, visit here.

Proceeds from the race go to various Hampton Roads charities.

Last year, 89 students in the Newport News Parks, Recreation and Tourism after school program at Kiln Creek Elementary ran the equivalent of 25 miles and read 26 books prior to the marathon and participated in a fun run, according to a news release from the city.

On June 1, Mayor McKinley Price recognized the Kiln Creek students and announced that the school would host its own race as part of the marathon.
