
NEWPORT NEWS — The Newport News Public Works department is showcasing their abilities.
The nine Public Works divisions partnered during National Public Works Week to launch a five-minute video to show residents how they “keep the City running,” according to a news release from the city.

National Public Works Week takes place from May 20 until May 26.
“The City’s Department of Public Works team is made up of 400 dedicated individuals who are all professionally trained and accredited. With more than 230,000 assets and over 500,000 service requests and work orders, it is a big job, but we’re doing it every day,” said Reed Fowler, public works director.
The divisions in public works include administration, wastewater, asset management, building services, community maintenance, security services, solid waste, stormwater and street maintenance.
