HAMPTON ROADS — A Yorktown man was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to the release, on Feb. 3, 2025, law enforcement conducted a controlled purchase of an ounce of methamphetamine, which was supplied by 42-year-old Jonathan Michael Jenkins, aka JHood. On March 3, the investigative team searched two residences associated with Jenkins.
At the first residence, investigators recovered methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine as well as a loaded handgun, officials said. From the second, investigators recovered additional evidence of drug trafficking and use.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division investigated the case with assistance from the Virginia State Police Tri-Rivers Task Force, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office, Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, and York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, officials said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon Heath prosecuted the case.
