UPDATE May 31: The suspect, Crystal Lynn Hamilton, has surrendered to law enforcement and is now in custody, police said.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Williamsburg Police are investigating shooting at a local motel that landed a woman in the hospital.
At approximately 7:23 a.m. police received a call from a guest at the Budget Inn Hotel, 800 Capitol Landing Road, in reference to gunshots, authorities said. The woman was bleeding but was responsive. She was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital, police said.
“It was an argument of some sort,” said Charles Ericsson, spokesman for the police department.
Police said they have secured a warrant for the suspect, Crystal Lynn Hamilton, 28, of Williamsburg on charges of armed burglary, malicious wounding and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Ericsson said the woman was shot in room 116 — the extent of the woman’s injuries was not immediately known. Police would only say she “is expected to recover.”

Hamilton is 5-foot-9 and weighs about 135 pounds. Police said she has blue eyes, black hair and several tattoos on her arm.
Authorities are asking anyone who may know of Hamilton’s whereabouts to call the Peninsula Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP or Williamsburg Police at 757-220-2331.
