Dominion Energy, accompanied by state and local officials, will test the early-warning siren system around the Surry Power Station.

The test will take place at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, according to a news release from Dominion Energy.

A three-minute tone will be sounded by 71 sirens in Williamsburg, Newport News and the counties of Surry, James City, York and Isle of Wight.

If there were an emergency at the power station, residents would hear four three-minute activations, separated by a minute of silence, according to the release. When sirens sound during an emergency, residents should listen to local officials and local media outlets that broadcast emergency information for updates and instructions.

Siren tests happen at the Surry Power Station on a quarterly basis. Other test dates include June 13, Sept. 12 and Dec. 12.
