Film buffs in Williamsburg can get their fix every fourth Wednesday at the Williamsburg Regional Library’s new art film series.

Each month, the Williamsburg Regional Library will offer free film screenings that range in genre from indie films to documentaries from the library’s own collection. The series will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the library on Scotland Street in Williamsburg.

“There seems to be high demand for art films, independent films, and other types of movies outside the mainstream here in Williamsburg,” Melissa Simpson, adult services director for the library, said.

The first film in the series will be a screening of “Sing Street” (2016). This movie takes a nostalgic look at the music scene in 1980’s Ireland as a group of teens start a band to impress a girl.

Other film screenings include:

  • Feb. 28- “Kedi,” a documentary on Istanbul
  • March 28- “Train to Busan,” a Korean zombie horror movie
  • April 25- “Step,” a documentary about the members of a Baltimore-based high school dance team
  • May 16- “In this Corner of the World,” a drama set in Hiroshima during World War II4
  • June 27- “Dawson City,” a documentary about the discovery of 500 silent films buried in Yukon Territory

A list of special matinee showings and further information can also be found on the library’s website.
