Williamsburg health authorities are searching for a Boston Bull Terrier they believe bit a person Wednesday at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitors Center, according to a Peninsula Health District news release.
The victim may need to receive treatment to prevent rabies if the dog is not found. When the dog is found, it will not be taken from its owner, but will be held at its home for a 10-day confinement period, the release said.
Virginia state law requires that dogs and cats be vaccinated between 3 and 4 months of age to maintain protection against rabies, the release stated.
Those with information on the dog’s whereabouts are asked to contact the Peninsula Health District office by telephone at 757-603-4277 or the James City County Animal Control office at 757-253-1800.
