YORK COUNTY— Just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, personnel from the York County Fire Department responded to the report of a fire at Seaford Scallop, located in the 500 block of Shirley Road. Upon arrival, crews found a heavy timber pier on fire at the business.
Power to the pier was disconnected, and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. Crews remained on the scene to conduct overhaul operations, which involved removing damaged boards from the pier. Fortunately, there was no damage to other structures at the business location.
The fire was fully extinguished by 11:40 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
