WILLIAMSBURG — The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (CWF) said it is talking to several possible tenants for the Merchants Square properties formerly occupied by Blackbird Bakery and La Piazza.
Merchants Square is owned by the foundation, which rents the space to retail and service-based businesses.
“Its proximity to the Historic Area and William & Mary makes Merchants Square a popular and highly trafficked location. We are discussing opportunities with several potential tenants who have expressed interest in the two properties formerly occupied by Blackbird Bakery and La Piazza restaurant,” said Ellen Peltz, Public Relations Manager for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Blackbird Bakery announced on social media March 29 that it would be closing its doors on March 31. Shortly after, La Piazza also announced it would also be closing.
Both businesses are owned by chef David Everett, who also owns DoG Street Pub and Blue Talon Bistro, both of which remain open. WYDaily has reached out for further comment.
