Motorists traveling overnight may experience traffic delays and detours on or near Interstate 64 from Oct. 9-12.
Construction crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will be conducting work on ramps and roads for the I-64 Widening Project, according to a VDOT press release.
The I-64 westbound on-ramp from Jefferson Avenue at Exit 247 will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m Oct. 9.
Industrial Park Drive in Newport News will be fully closed between Ridgeview Drive and Trusswood Lane Oct. 10 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Exit 243B to Route 143 will fully close overnight Oct. 11 and 12 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured and motorists can look for roadside signs and crews for direction, the release said.
Along with ramp and lane closures, VDOT will also continue its long-term overnight traffic patterns — with one lane of traffic remaining open in each direction along I-64 and Fort Eustis Blvd at construction sites.
There will be alternating single-lane closures on I-64 east and west between Exits 247 and 255 from Oct. 6-12. Road work may begin as early as 9 p.m. and run through 5 a.m on weeknights, at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and will begin at 10 p.m. Sunday.
Single lanes will also close along I-64 between the Colonial Parkway and Exit 247. Closures will be held Oct. 8-12 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Lanes will not close before 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.
Both directions of Fort Eustis Boulevard will experience alternating single-lane closures at the I-64 overpass Oct. 8-12 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
