Date: Thursday, November 28th beginning at 10PM

Location: Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall on the campus of William & Mary

Event Information:

William and Mary Theatre presents the irreverent, touching, and gender-bending Tony award-winning musical, La Cage Aux Folles, with book by Harvey Fierstein, music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, based on the play by Jean Poiret, and directed by Laurie J. Wolf.

La Cage Aux Folles tells the story of Georges, a nightclub owner in the exclusive resort of St Tropez, and his partner, Albin, who stars in the club’s revue as Zaza, the region’s most famous drag artiste. When Georges’ son, Jean-Michel, brings his future conservative in-laws to meet his parents, the strength of the family relationship is stretched to the breaking point.  Although written in the early 1980’s, La Cage Aux Follesstill retains its freshness. The topic of family values in alternative marriages is front and center in the political arena, and those principles are firmly at the heart of this production.

La Cage Aux Folles plays for one weekend only this November 21-24 at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall, located at 601 Jamestown Road in Williamsburg. The shows are at 8pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2pm.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for students and may be purchased in person or by phone (757-221-2674) at the Phi Beta Kappa box office from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday through Friday or online at anytime. The Box Office is also open one hour before show time and seats are available at the door.  La Cage Aux Folles is recommended for audiences of 14 and up.
