Williamsburg resident Jennifer Wheatly was recently surprised when she received an unexpected floral arrangement from Morrison’s Flowers and Gifts.
Wheatly had been nominated for Morrison’s Flowers’ new Send a Smile program, which owner Arlene Aitken-Williams created as a way to give back to the community. Recipients are nominated by friends and family members on the florist’s Facebook page, then a new winner is picked randomly each week.
Wheatly was nominated by a friend because her sister is battling breast cancer. “I enjoyed it for an hour and then gave it to my sister, Nancy, who is fighting stage 4 breast cancer,” Wheatly wrote on the Facebook page. “The arrangement brought a big smile to a beautiful sister’s face.”
