Some local prep baseball talent has earned honors for their work on both offense and defense.

Ocean Lakes High School baseball’s Chase Counts was named to the Virginia High School League’s 6A all-state first team as the designated hitter. Counts, a 2016 graduate and Hampden Sydney commit, also pitched for the Dolphins. He was a first team selection as designated hitter for the Coastal Conference and Region, and chosen for second team honors as a pitcher in the Coastal Conference.

Two First Colonial teammates were named to the VHSL’s all-state second team. Outfielder Alex Giles made the cut, along with third baseman Chin Moss. Both players are rising seniors.
