Cross-Country: Grafton Sweeps Meet at Bruton

Grafton’s girls and boys cross-country teams took first place during a tri-meet between the Clippers, Bruton and Jamestown at Bruton High School on Wednesday.

In the girls race, Grafton defeated Jamestown 19-40 and Bruton 19-34.

Maya Caden, a Grafton freshman, took first place overall in a time of 20:18. Caden edged Bruton sophomore Clara Wincheski, who took second place with a time of 20:30.

Wincheski and her teammate Kaitlyn Ardrey, who took third place with a time of 20:59, helped lead Bruton to a 25-32 win against Jamestown.

Jamestown’s Kathleen Yates finished fourth overall in a time of 21:05, while Grafton’s Tacoma Mendelsohn rounded out the top five in 21:16.

In the boys race, Grafton took down Jamestown 18-37 and Bruton 18-45. Jamestown defeated Bruton 20-43.

The Clippers took four of the top five spots, including first and second place. Dylan Lorio-MacNamara finished in first with a time of 17:24, while Miles Owens took second in 17:27.

Bruton senior Curt Ivanoff finished third with a time of 17:29, just edging Grafton’s Price Owens, who also finished in a time of 17:29. Dylan Comer of Grafton took fifth in 17:40.
