Walsingham Boys Soccer Plays to Draw Against Veritas

trojansAfter conceding a first-half goal to Veritas School, Walsingham Academy battled back and played to a 1-1 draw on the road Tuesday in Richmond during the opening game of the season for both teams.

A slow start to the first half by the Trojans allowed Veritas School to jump on top.

Almost 20 minutes into the first half, Veritas’ Seth Daly found the back of the net from 25 yards out to go up 1-0.

The Trojans came out firing after halftime and, in the 70th minute, knotted the game up thanks to a goal by Ryan Dorsett that was assisted by Jay Gutches.

Walsingham kept up the offensive pressure in the second half, dominating shots against Veritas (0-0-1) by a margin of 17-8.

Despite controlling the pace of play over the final 40 minutes, the Trojans were unable to capitalize on their scoring chances. By the time the final whistle blew, both teams remained level at 1-1.

Walsingham (0-0-1) will continue its season on the road against Covenant in Charlottesville on Thursday.
