NEWPORT NEWS — The sheriff’s office will host a motorcycle ride and hot dog social at the Newport News Park this weekend.

Sheriff deputies will escort motorcyclists on the “scenic” bike ride along the colonial parkway to raise money for the Project Lifesaver program, according to a sheriff’s office news release. More on the program here.

The bike ride will last about an hour and be followed by the hot dog social that includes DJ music, auctions, raffles and other activities, said Dorothy Wikan, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

Registration is $20 per bike and $5 per passenger.

People can register on the day of the event or avoid the line by downloading the registration form and bringing it to the event, Wikan said.

The 5th Annual Project Lifesaver Motorcycle Ride and Hot Dog Social will be at Shelters 19-20 at the Newport News Park, 13560 Jefferson Ave. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will go rain or shine and registration for the bike ride starts at 9 a.m.
