WILLIAMSBURG — Local mystery writer Tracy Wainwright will be hosting a book signing on May 30 from 2-6 p.m. at The Mole Hole on Richmond Road for the latest installment of her Historic Triangle-based series.

Wainwright, who has been writing for 18 years, got her start at the Toano-Norge Times. Working with a few local publications, as well as “dabbling” in writing, she soon found herself self-publishing two children’s books, as well as a short novel.

From there, she dove into the writing world. Currently, there are 16 published works listed on her website, spanning a variety of genres.

Her first cozy mystery came out in 2019, and she had plans to publish its sequels quickly, but due to personal circumstances and the COVID-19 pandemic, they ended up delayed.

Now, Wainwright has picked up where she left off, and so far this year, she has published two cozy mysteries as part of the existing series, with the fourth book planned to debut in May. The mysteries are set in the Williamsburg area, and so far have taken place in locations like Jamestown, the Yorktown Battlefield, and Colonial Williamsburg.

“Everyone always asks me if [the books] are historical,” Wainwright explained. “No, I don’t go back and research the time period to make it authentic that way, but more authentic to celebrating the history of the area, the attractions, and the benefit of living here. Memories of taking my own kids to historical sights and teaching them, and so just wanting to include that in some fun books.”

She also coaches writing and works as a freelance editor, and plans to launch the Christian Writing Academy on June 1 at

Currently, her cozy mystery series can be purchased on Amazon. For more information about her books and series, visit her official website.
