WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Beer Company (VBC) will release a new ale on Friday, Oct. 1 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

VBC will release Here For The Girls, a pink-hued Golden Ale with Hibiscus flowers, in support of the local nonprofit organization of the same name.

Here for the Girls, Inc. works to improve the lives of women specifically under the age of fifty-one who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, providing them with a network of online and in-person emotional support and services.

Robby Willey, co-founder of VBC, has a personal connection with the cause.

“Of all the causes we support, this is one of the most meaningful for me, personally,” Willey said. “We lost my mother to a battle with breast cancer in 2013, when she was just 65 years old. We’re proud to be teaming with H4TG to bring awareness and resources with this collaboration, and we hope many will ‘drink pink’ this October and join us in raising a round to those in our lives who have and still may be fighting this battle.”

In addition to a percentage of taproom sales from the Oct. 1 release, twenty percent of the proceeds from the beer sale will go to Here For The Girls, Inc.

As part of the release celebration, VBC will also unveil a a limited edition run of Pink Ribbon logo shirts. A portion of the proceeds from each shirt sold will also go toward Here for the Girls.

VBC is also a premier sponsor of the Here for the Girls’ annual golf tournament in April, which is the organization’s biggest fundraiser.

“Hopefully one day we’ll be raising a round to no more of these battles needing to be fought ever again,” Willey said.
