Carolyn Moell Marcella, 86, was born in Manhattan, NY, and passed away peacefully in her Newport News, VA home surrounded by family.
She graduated from Newport News High School in 1956 and worked as a professional secretary at Ballou & Palmer Insurance and Henderson Phillips Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church; cleaning committee for 25 years.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, the love of her life, Mickey Marcella, Jr. and married on her birthday in 1961. A loving mother to Donnie (Crystal) and Neil (Maura); grandchildren, Josh (Bethany), Hannah (Adam), Sam, Michael, and Breck; great-grandchildren, Layla, Olivia, and William; sisters, Joan Ferguson (Kenny), Bonnie Manning (Ben); sister-in-law, Louise Colletti (Sam) and several nieces and nephews.
Carol will be deeply missed as she was always a believer in Christ, a beautiful person and friend to all. Special thanks to mom’s caregivers, Theresa Till and Barbara Hyatt. The family would like to thank St. Jerome Eucharistic Ministry and ACG Hospice (Lauren, Latoya, Beth and Taylor).
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at St. Jerome Catholic Church by Rev. George Prado with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
