Marguerite Nina Wagner (nee Lingley), died on June 5, 2025, in Williamsburg VA with her husband at her bedside. She was born on May 12, 1940, to Marguerite Lingley (nee Harbour) and Kenneth Atlee Lingley.
She is survived by her husband, William Henry (Hank) Wagner; daughters, Cynthia Aronson and Stacy Cruess; and son Jeffrey Wagner. Her son Todd Wagner passed away in 2023. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Marguerite was known by friends and family as Marge, and affectionately as Margie by her husband, Hank. She spent the first 21 years of her life in Massachusetts with Worcester as her hometown. She graduated from Chicopee High School and received a scholarship to attend Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing. Marge graduated in September 1961 and subsequently was granted an RN license. She met her husband Hank in Boston in 1959. Marge and Hank were married on June 3, 1961 in the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, informally known as Mission church Boston.
Marge went on to earn a BSN from William Patterson College in New Jersey. She and Hank raised their four children in New Jersey, moved to Rhode Island for a few years before returning to Massachusetts where they lived for another 46 years in Needham, Stoughton, Marshfield and Middleboro, before moving to Spotsylvania, Virginia in 2021. They subsequently moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in 2024.
Marge held numerous positions as a nurse, including E.R. nurse, floor nurse, ICU nurse. She held Director positions at a young age for Community Health Education and Inservice education and a few other positions. She was a nurse case manager for Blue Cross for several years. She ran her own chain of three craft stores for 7 years. She enjoyed challenging herself, advocating for others, and providing loving care to her patients.
Marge’s interests included golf, tennis, pool, painting and photography. Despite a broken back at age 20 she played tennis while young and took up golf at 50 and pool at 64, both of which she then played for many years. She was co-champion of the MEN’s pool league at her over 55 community three times. Additionally, she was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Above all, Marge cared deeply for her family and her husband. She will be missed greatly by Hank, her family and all she touched.
She was interred at Williamsburg Memorial Park on June 12, 2025.
