Marianita Rama Crawford, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Newport News, VA.
Born in Cebu, Philippines, Marianita grew up with her 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She married the love of her life, John C. Crawford III, on September 12, 1984. They spent their marriage traveling the world with the U.S. Air Force, along with their four children, James, Michael, Joanna, and Melanie. Shortly after John retired from the U.S. Air Force, they settled their family in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Marianita spent her days doing what she loved best: cooking for soldiers and traveling with her family.
She was known by loved ones as “Marian”, and to her grandchildren as “Nana”.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maria and Julio; brother, Alex; husband, John and her son, Michael. Left to carry on her memory is her son, James Crawford; daughters, Joanna Crawford and Melanie Heiges, and her 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, and Robert. Along with countless friends whom she loved just as fiercely as she did her family.
Funeral Services will be conducted from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
