Jimmy Henry Bradsher, 89, of Newport News

Jimmy Henry Bradsher (Nelsen Funeral Home)

On May 11, 2025, Jimmy Bradsher went to be with the Lord, after 89 years of sharing his gift of life with all who knew him.

Jimmy was deeply courageous, kind, compassionate, respectful of all others and, most of all, he was humble. His life was defined by integrity, faith and personal sacrifice, always placing his family and friends before himself. His bright and always heartfelt smile lit up everything around him.

He loved his family dearly, and gave all of his time to supporting them for nearly every moment on this earth. Jimmy was a volunteer to the C&P Bell Atlantic Pioneers and always enjoyed watching sports with family.

Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving both in the United States and Germany in the 1950’s. His professional career spanned over 30 years with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company. Throughout his life and with his passage, he leaves a lasting example of dedication, courage and humility for all others to follow.

Jimmy was born of humble roots in Person County, North Carolina to Johnnie & Ada Bradsher. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Clifton, Joyce, and Marie; his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Bradsher; and a granddaughter, Gillian Brown.

Jimmy is survived by his three children; James Bradsher and his wife Pam, Marie Struble and her husband Ron, and Kathy Brown and her husband Blaine. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Corey (Kristen), Austin, and Katelyn (Tyler) Bradsher, Lindsay (Alex) Codekas, Dustin Hickman, Erin, David, Sarah and Amanda Struble, Matt (Kirsten) and Megan Brown; five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jaxon, Kennedy, Leighton and Parker; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime partner and dear friend, Jacquelyn Armstrong, and her two children, Cindy (Mike) Hanrahan and Debbie (Tommy) Emerson and the rest of the Armstrong Family.

In keeping with Jimmy’s humility, he requested a private immediate family burial next to his wife Elizabeth in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA.

Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded to his daughter Marie Struble at struble6@proton.me.

In honor of Jimmy’s life, the family requests friends and family donate to their preferred charitable organization.
