It is with much sadness, The Snyder family announces the death of Billy C. Snyder, 67, on April 3, 2025 in Newport News, VA.
Billy was born and raised in Newport News. He attended Warwick High School and completed his high school education with the U.S. Armed Forces Institute at Ft Campbell, Ky. After serving 3 years in the military, Billy moved to the Outer Banks, NC. where he became a Master Carpenter. He helped build many beautiful homes of which he was proud to showcase. Much of his free time was spent honing his surfing skills and he continued to enjoy surfing until his death. He moved to Norfolk in 2012.
Among his greatest joy was playing music with family and friends. He was an accomplished guitarist and will be joining a blue grass band in heaven. Once his only child, Dylan, became of age, Billy dedicated his time as a scout Master helping countless young men to learn and grow all the way to Eagle Scouts. He also enjoyed the outdoors, duck hunting and camping.
Billy was giving even in passing; he donated his organs so others could live. He entered and departed his life through Riverside Hospital.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, John A. Snyder (Jack) in 2005. He is survived by his son, Dylan of Manteo, NC; mother, Betty Snyder; brothers, Richard (Stacey) and John Snyder I (Trip); sister, Cheryl England (Dan); his significant other, Sherry Caruana, and his best furry friend, Daisy Mae.
Family and friends of Billy will gather for a visitation on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Weymouth Funeral Home.
