“Tito Bert” or “Kuya Abet” as Alberto was known to those closest to him, was a charismatic force of nature. His infectious laughter and playful jokes brightened every room. Beneath his jovial exterior was a determined spirit; once he set his mind on something, he always saw it through. He will be forever loved and missed.

After spending two years at the University of Santo Tomas, Alberto joined the Navy. During the Vietnam War, he earned an Expeditionary Medal. He worked as a Culinary Specialist (CS), retiring at the rank of E7, Chief. As the admiral’s personal assistant, he received a commendation from him. Following his military service, he worked for the United States Post Office. Here in Williamsburg, he was a member of both St. Bede Catholic Church and St. Olaf Catholic Church.

Alberto enjoyed gardening, basketball, boxing, reading, politics, war documentaries, traveling, and being active. He loved food and cooking, especially cooking for others. He was an avid outdoorsman, and above all else, loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Mass will be offered at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 12:00 PM.
